Colin Atkin

Executive Director

Colin joined Hastings in 2008 and has over two decades of relevant industry experience. At Hastings, Colin's roles have included membership of the Hastings Executive Committee, Chair of the Portfolio and Investor Management Committee and a member of both the Equity and Debt Investment Committees.  He has also held equity investment roles as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Portfolio Manager for Utilities Trust of Australia (UTA) and CEO of Australian Securities Exchange listed Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund. In addition to these roles, Colin's responsibilities have included directorships and implementation of strategies at a number of Hastings corporate entities and investee companies including Australian Pacific Airports Corporation, ElectraNet, Epic Energy, Perth Airport, Tiaki Plantations and Hancock Victorian Plantations. He has also held a role as an Alternate Director for Utilities of Australia (the Trustee of UTA).  Prior to joining Hastings, Colin was with the international credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s culminating in his tenure as a Director of Fund Ratings and a Director within the Corporate and infrastructure credit rating group. Before joining Standard & Poor’s, Colin worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in the European investment banking and debt capital market division.  Colin holds a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University. He has completed The Advanced Management Program at INSEAD and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

​Brett Mitsch

Portfolio Manager of Utilities Trust of Australia

Brett joined Hastings in March 2016 and has over 25 years' experience in engineering, infrastructure, utility and corporate finance advisory in both Australia and the USA. Brett has advised on over $56b of M&A transactions for private, government and infrastructure investor clients, across the electricity, water, gas, seaport, mining and rail sectors in North America, South America and Australia. Brett has worked at a number of investment banks in New York and Melbourne including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Lehman Brothers. He has also worked in the corporate sector with EnergyAustralia in business development and ran his own corporate advisory firm providing advice to the coal mining sector on port and rail infrastructure development. He commenced his career as an engineer in the Australian water sector. Brett holds a Master of Engineering Science from Monash University, a Master of Business Administration with Distinction (H.J. Heinz Scholar) from Melbourne Business School, and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) from Monash University. Brett is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Matt Lorback

Portfolio Manager of The Infrastructure Fund

Matt Lorback joined Hastings in March 2007 and has more than 13 years of experience in infrastructure investing.  Matt is the Portfolio Manager for The Infrastructure Fund and has held a variety of portfolio and asset management roles, including working with the Utilities Trust of Australia's Portfolio Management team at Hastings.   Prior to joining the portfolio management team, Matt was Hastings' airport sector expert.  Matt is currently a director of Perth Airport, and has also been a director of Queensland Airports Ltd (QAL) and North Queensland Airports (NQA). His recent transaction experience includes follow-on investments in Perth Airport, Queensland Airports Limited, Australian Pacific Airports Corporation (Melbourne and Launceston Airports), and the acquisition of North Queensland Airports (Cairns and Mackay Airports). Prior to joining Hastings, Matthew was a senior executive in Corporate Finance (Valuations) at KPMG where he specialised in the valuation of infrastructure assets. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kurt Lemke

Group Director; Portfolio Macroeconomic Strategy

Kurt joined Hastings in 2014 and has over 15 years of relevant industry experience.  Kurt is a member of the Portfolio Management team and is responsible for portfolio macroeconomic strategy and Hastings Quantitative Insight Program, focusing on portfolio construction. Prior to joining Hastings, Kurt spent three years as an Economist with BIS Shrapnel and was the lead international forecaster and project manager in both the economics and the infrastructure and mining units of the company. While at BIS Shrapnel, Kurt provided economic forecasts for some of Australia’s largest recent infrastructure transactions including Port Botany and Port Kembla and the Port of Brisbane.  Previously, Kurt was a Principle at Platinum Innovative Distributors, where he focused on finding, developing and sourcing solutions for institutional clients with long-term horizons seeking stable, cash flowing, alternative assets. Kurt holds a Master of Science, International Financial Economics from the University of Strathclyde.
